Zelma Marie White

Zelma Marie (Bishop) White, 75, of Mullens, a good and faithful servant of the Lord, was called home to Heaven on Monday, March 21, 2011 in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born June 28, 1935 at Bud, she was the daughter of the late James Aaron Bishop and Gusta (Trogden) Bishop Perdue. Mrs. White was a homemaker, and a former nurse's aid in the Pediatric Ward at Wyoming General Hospital. She was the wife of the former pastor of The Alpoca Pentecostal Church Of God, Alpoca where she attended for more than 34 years. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, raising her family, and always put the needs of others before her own. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Arlon E. White; a daughter, Deborah Lynn White; a sister, Vida Bishop; a brother, Paul Cox; and a infant brother, Buddy Bishop. Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Diane Marie Lilly and her husband, Gary, of Alpoca; a son, Terry Ray White and his wife, Kathy, of Alpoca; six grandchildren, Tiffany Carter and her husband, Justin, and Misty Lafferty and her husband, Bobby, all of Alpoca, Tara Lafferty and her husband, Charles, of Spanishburg, Morgan White of Mullens, Zack White and Luke Mitchem, both of Turkey Creek; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, and Jacob Lafferty; and five sisters, Arlene Walls and her husband, Phillip, of Bud, Ruby Lilly of Beckley, Carol Ward and her husband, Bob, of Beckley, Ernie Perry of Pineville and Drema Bishop of Beckley. Services will be 12 Noon Friday, March 25, 2011 at The Alpoca Pentecostal Church Of God with Rev. Paul Lusk and Rev. Gary Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
