Sam Don Hylton

February 2, 1929 - August 20, 2021

Sam "Don" Hylton of Bud Mountain, left this world on August 20, 201 at Bowers Hospice House following a short illness. Sam was born on February 2, 1929, at Bud Mountain, he was the son of the late Sam and Lilly (Bishop) Hylton. Sam was a retired Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He had also worked in the coal mines prior to and post military career. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing, road trips, and especially loved getting out on the trails on the side by side. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters, Mae Green, Virginia Ward, and Goldie Jacobs; his brother, Henry Hylton; and two loving wives, Bobette (Lewis) Hylton and Carrie (Green). Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Dora Sizemore, Sylvia Hill, Sadie Bishop, and Mary Isom; brother, Robert Hylton; his children, Leslie (Gary) Bishop of Bud Mountain, Mark (Kathy) Hylton of Beckley, and Fiona Bennett of Hinton; six grandchildren, Shane and Stacy Bishop of Milwaukee, WI, Ben and Story Bishop of Tijeras, NM, Ernie and Erin Bennett of Bristow, VA, Keith Hylton of Beckley, Melanie and Jamie Blume of Jumping Branch, and Monika and James Goodman of Mt. Airy, NC; and also twelve beautiful great grandchildren. Memorial service and burial will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 3, 2021 at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton with Taylor County Honor Guard Chaplain, Randy Jennings officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy.
