James "Jimmy" Sampson

May 10, 1965 - October 16, 2011

James Carl (Jimmy) Sampson, Jr., 46, of Maben passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his residence following a long illness. Born May 10, 1965 at Carlise, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Pearl Sampson Burgess of Maben and the late James C. Sampson, Sr. Jimmy was a former collision body technician having last worked at Pendry's Body Shop in Welch and he attended the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother and caregiver, Pearl Sampson Burgess; one son, James T. Sampson at home; two daughters, Amber Sampson and LeeAnn Sampson, both of Old Fort, NC; one step-daughter, Matalynn Sampson of Florida; three step-sons, Aaron Bafille of Pierpoint, Eddie Billups, and Joshua Davis, both of Florida; one sister, Emily Mann of Old Fort, NC; one brother, Ernest L. Sampson of Maben; one niece, Kayla; and one nephew, Joseph. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. William O. Tolliver and Rev. Richard Massie officiating. Friends may call from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Herndon Freewill Baptist Church. In keeping with Jimmy's wishes cremation will follow the services. For those considering an expression of sympathy the family requests contributions be made in Jimmy's memory to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802. Pallbearers will be Bobby Sizemore, Dave McKinney, J.D. McKinney, Johnny Grimes, Teddy Tolliver, Jeff Tolliver, and Stacy Tolliver. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Tankersley Funeral Home, 102 Moran Avenue, Mullens, WV 25882.
