James Byron "J.B." England, 88, of Otsego, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his residence following a short illness. Born March 13, 1928 at Harmco, he was the son of the late John Henry and Nancy Jane (Blakely) England. J.B. was a retired coal miner of 23 years having last worked for Consoal Coal Company, was a member of UMWA, he was retired after 13 years from the Wyoming County Board of Education, and was member of the Mullens Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & A.M. serving as a teacher. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran where he was stationed in Adak, Alaska and Aleutian Islands on the USS Washburn from 1946- 1948. J.B. was a member of the Charity Baptist Church, Mullens and was the youngest of 16 children and the last surviving of his immediate family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mildred (Betty) England of Otsego; two daughters, Pam Maynard and her husband, Dalley of Otsego and Terry Lynn of Mullens; two sons, Byron England and his wife, Susan of Pineville and David England and his wife, Sharon of Walkertown, NC; nine grandchildren, Nolan, Jason, Steven, Jeremy, Monica, Joshua, Amber, Daren, and Joseph Ryan ; and five great grandchildren. Services will be 12 Noon, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Rev. Dalley Maynard and Rev. Larry England officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Members of the Mullens Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard and Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Mullens Masonic Lodge #151 A.F. & AM.
