Billie E. Wilcox

October 16, 1928 - April 26, 2010

Billie Elbert "Bill" Wilcox, 81, of Mullens, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness. Born October 16, 1928 at Wyco, he was the son of the late John M. and Nona Lee Morefield. Bill was a former co-owner of City Esso, a former employee of the Wyoming County Board Of Education as a school bus driver, and was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways in Wyoming and Raleigh Counties where he served as supervisor for Wyoming County. He was a life member of the Mullens Moose Club where he served as Steward for many years, a member of the Mullens Masonic Lodge # 151 A.F.& A.M. and he was a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers Ivan M. Wilcox, Alvin "Bud" Wilcox, and Cleo S. Wilcox. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Wingo Wilcox; a daughter, Jerri Weaver and her husband, Greg, of Mullens; a sister, Joyce K. Samoriga of Beckley; two brothers, Ralph M. Wilcox and his wife, Claudine, of Fredericksburg, VA; and John R. "Toots" Wilcox and his wife, Carolyn, of Mullens; two beloved granddogs, Bumper and Chester; three sisters-in-law, Sue Moorefield and her husband, Richard, of Princeton, Joan Carter of Portsmith, OH and Ellen Wilcox of Berryville, VA; a brother-in-law, Russell Wingo of Claremore, OK; two adopted sons, Dave Cox of Mullens and John Welsh of Greenbrier County; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Mullens United Methodist Church, Mullens. Donations of sympathy may be made to the Mullens United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 245, Mullens, WV 25882 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
