Betty Jean Massie, 76, of Pierpoint went home to be with her Lord on February 11, 2016 at Wyoming Nursing and Rehab following a long illness. Born May 18, 1939 at Stephenson, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Helen (Ross) Hash. Betty was a homemaker, a 58 years resident of Pierpoint, and a member of the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, flowers, giving hugs, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Massie; one brother, Tennis Hash; and one sister, Janet Meadows. Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, John Massie of Charlotte, NC, Gene and his wife, Sharon Massie of Mullens, and Ronnie Massie and his wife, Denise of Charlotte, NC; four daughters, Sharon Reed and her husband, Anthony of Pierpoint, Donna Martin and her husband, Gary of Mullens, Renee Cook and her fiancé, David Stauffer of Wilmington, NC, and Tina Gillespie and her husband, Darrell of Pierpoint; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Shively and her husband, Darrell of Beckley and Joyce McKendree of Mullens; and one brother, Willis (Junior) Hash and his wife, Frances of Ghent. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Rev. Butch Acord officiating. Burial will follow in the Pierpoint Cemetery, Pierpoint. Friends may call one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
